My full name is Rosemary Gioielli. That's a tough one, I know. My last name is an Italian word meaning jewels, or jewelry. It is pronounced Joy- ell-ee.
Art has always been a part of me,
drawing for as long as I can remember . In my early years I had seen a painting in a
magazine that excited and moved me. It was a painting of a child lifting up the waters edge
and peeking under it, as if it were a rug. I was in awe ! I believed then that artists
were magicians who could bring dreams and imagination into reality.
I began attempting to teach myself to
paint with oils at age 11, unsuccessfully...and switched to acrylics which at that time was much more manageable for me. I've considered myself self
taught until earning a degree in Visual Art and Design/ Illustration in 2014. The objective
of furthering my education was to take my artistic skills to a higher level.
I am captivated by the natural world that surrounds us ,teeming with life, so full of mystery. Painting is my way of both trying to understand, and trying to share with you what I see , feel, and experience.

About The Work:
For traditional work I use graphite, charcoal,ink, oils and acrylic; oil being my preferred medium.
